A bikeride around Inverurie
I did not have a camera back then, I am afraid. So no pictures from that tour. But click on the button below to open up Google Maps.

I moved to Aberdeen and stayed there for some months in 2001, working on a contract. I did a lot of bikerides. This bikeride was a rather unplanned and a result breaking of another bikeride halfway through the ride because I could not bother completing the original route. I have forgotten my planned ride. But I broke it off at Oldmeldrum and went back over Inverurie and Westhill again to Aberdeen. My memories is very hazy though, but I will try to lure out some details from my memories.
It was a sunny morning when I set off up the busy A956 to Bridge Of Done where I took the B999 towards Pitmedden. The road started with a climb, but then became pretty flat until I reached
Pitmedden. I chose the A920 and cycled to Oldmeldrum on this road. I have some vague recollections of having planned to go towards Huntly on the A920. But that road did not seem interesting from Oldmeldrum. It still does not seems interesting so I took the B9170 towards Inverurie instead. A bit of a hillclimb, as far as I remember before the road dropped into the rather big town of Inverurie. I cycled through this town and took some smaller roads before I ended up on the A96 for a couple of kilometers and then the B979 up a steep hill over to
Westhill and back to Aberdeen after a pretty wasted day in the saddle.
I cannot remember much of this bikeride and I cannot recommend it. It was just a wasted day on the bike in nice weather. I should had got far more out of that day. Enough said.
